Caro López-Martínez

Caro is a Chicago native from the Brighton Park/Back of the Yards neighborhood. She has a professional background in fine art, scientific research, counseling, and nonprofit work. Her lived experience as a mental health/addictions advocate cultivated her interests in social justice, solution-focused research, and evidence-based therapeutic interventions. She most recently worked as a Counseling Intern at the Cognitive Clinic in Palos Hills and remote Training Program Coordinator at the Beck Institute for Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, a nonprofit based in Bala Cynwyd, PA. Additionally, she was an exhibiting Resident Artist at Project Onward, a nonprofit in Chicago that supports neurodiversity.

Caro aims to integrate her passion for social justice and helping professions, interpersonal soft skills, creativity, and scientific/data-driven background to her role as Community Evaluation Coordinator at Beyond. She looks forward to expanding her knowledge in the legal field and the communities served through Beyond’s services.

In her spare time, Caro enjoys creating mixed-media artwork, engaging in nature-based activities, and domestic/international travel. She is also an active member in her global recovery community and enjoys making new connections.
